Star Fleet
2011 Nutmeg Regatta (Tri-Regatta Centennial Cup)
From the beginning Milford Yacht Club was included as one of the various yacht clubs which lay in the Connecticut Long Island Sound (CLIS) territory. However, it was not until the late 1940's that interest in sailing Stars at the Milford Yacht Club began to grow. Finally, 1951 a separate fleet charter was given to the Milford fleet. The new fleet was named the Mid-Connecticut fleet. The Mid-Conn fleet took up the rest of the territory, namely "Long Island Sound east of Fairfield Point to Branford Reef".
The fleet hosts races every week-end, and two major regattas; the Arms-White and the Nutmeg regattas.
March 2011 Update
As many of you know, at the mid winter fleet meeting Lou Roberts was voted in as Fleet Captain and Josh Revkin assumed the position of Fleet Secretary. With the guidance of the ageless Star masters, David Bolles and Jack Button, the MYC Fleet Officers, and the District team, we assembled the attached Fleet Schedule for the 2011 season.
The MID CT Star Fleet is a very established and active fleet. This is going to be a very strong year for the MID CT Fleet as we’ve heard from a number of new sailors who have indicated their desire to join/rejoin the fleet. In addition, this is the Centennial Anniversary of the Star Fleet!!!
We are always actively promoting growth in new membership. If you are interested in joining, please read on.
MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION
Dues are based on participation level. Details can be found at the Fleet Website.
Active member: $120 ($75 Star Class dues, $35 Fleet dues, $10 District dues)
Associate member: $50 ($35 Star Class dues, $15 Fleet dues)
Life member: $45 ($35 Fleet dues, $10 District dues)
Supporting member: $15 ($15 Fleet dues)
Other notes
· District dues apply only to the boat-owning members (Active and Life members).
· Supporting members are not Star Class members. However, they may upgrade at any time to the category of Associate member by paying the $35 Star Class dues.
· To minimize fleet expenses we would like to be able to do most of our communication with you via e-mail, so please supply your email when joining.
· If you pay the Star Class membership for your crew you may combine the total amount on a single check.
· For existing members, please note any changes in your information since last year: address, telephone number, e-mail address, boat number and name, etc.
Dues are important for regatta and events planning purposes. They are also required in order to participate in Star Regattas.
