Mission Statement   It is the mission of the Milford Yacht Club Junior Sailing Program to encourage junior sailors to experience the joy of recreation and/or competitive sailing and to teach the essential elements of performance boat handling, seamanship and racing.  The program strives to instill in our junior sailors self esteem, a realization of the value of teamwork and the respect of the sea.  The success of our program will not be measured in races won, but in the legacy of the love of the sport.

Program Overview   Kids and teens learn to sail at MYC this summer!  If you have always wanted to learn to sail, this is your chance. MYC offers a great sailing program, and you don't have to be a club member to participate.  That means your friends can learn to sail with you. Think how much fun you can have sailing and swimming at the club this summer. Sailing is a special interest, if not a passion, that lasts a lifetime, and there is no better way to start than with the MYC Junior Sailing Program.  The summer program teaches a lot more than sailing, you will learn responsibility, self-sufficiency, independence, and teamwork.

If you already know how to sail, increase your skills with our afternoon program which allows juniors of various ages to participate with special emphasis on their area of interest. 

Program details   The 2011 the MYC Junior Sailing Program will meet each weekday from Thursday, June 23rd through Friday, August 12, 2011. There is a morning session for new and less experienced sailors that runs from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.  For more experienced sailors, there is an afternoon session that runs from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.   The cost to members of MYC is $750.  The program is also open to non-members for the same price, however, there will be an additional charge for a Class C membership. The program is open to children born between January 1, 1993 and December 31, 2003.

Lil’ Skippers Program   The Lil' Skipper Program is an introductory program for children ages 6-7 teaching the basics of sailing, using Club Optimists. Lil’ Skippers learn the foundation skills for sailing, in a safe and fun environment.  The fun happens from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays. The program begins Wednesday, July 6th and runs through Monday, August 1st. There will be no class on Wednesday, July 27th because of the MYC "Opti Rumble". The cost is $450 with limited enrollment. This program is available to children of MYC member families only.
