MYC Boardman Cup a success!

On Saturday, August 4th, the MYC hosted the 32nd annual Challenge for the Boardman Cup, an ECSA event that although a fun, memorable event, over the years has encountered various weather conditions, and this year was no exception. The day began with a postponement due to heavy rains, sailors took cover in the breezeway, waiting out the storm.

Early indicators were not good as other Milford boats who had volunteered to support the Swim Across the Sound, returned early after the cancellation of the event. However, the competitors and race committee persevered, a race was run, and the MYC defended the cup from a strong team of sailors from the Windjammers Sailing Club.

Thanks to Fleet Captain Bob Farnum and his team of volunteers, who made the event a success. Notably, this year was a transition year with young skippers taking honors in both Class A – Spinnaker & Class B – Canvas.

MYC Jr. Sailor Ryan Treat took honors in class A, following in his father’s footsteps (Tom Treat, past winner) and and similarly Oliver Jennings, his father Paul & brother were aboard on a restored 1959 Cape Cod Marlin.

Results attached, don’t hesitate to celebrate with our sailors next time you see them in the bar, assuming Ryan is with dad :-)
