Another strong finish by the Revkins in Bacardi Cup Invitational!
2018 Bacardi Cup Invitational Regatta
Miami, FL, USA | March 4th – 10th, 2018
Father & son, Jim & Josh Revkin had another good showing on a world stage, this time at the Bacardi Cup Regatta in Miami, FL. Josh, crew on the NOR8234 “Survival of the Fattest II” with Norwegian skipper, Eivind Melleby, had an excellent start to the regatta, finishing 2, 1, 3 in the first three races. They struggled a bit in the last 3 races but still stayed in “the money” finishing 3rd in a fleet of 76 boats.
Jim, with local crew Chad Easley finished 61st, sailing for USA, had good opening races and struggled in the last 3 races, like “son like father”! Regardless, a GREAT representation of the Milford Yacht Club sailing at a world class level. To put the event into perspective, Paul Cayard (professional sailor, competing in championship level sailing events, including the America’s Cup, the Whitbread Round the World Race, the Volvo Ocean Race and the Olympic Games, selected as the US Rolex Yachtsmen of the Year, has won seven world championships, twice participated in the Olympic Games and seven times in the America’s Cup, elected into the Sailing World Hall of Fame) finished in 5th place!
Next time you see Jim or Josh in the Commodore’s Lounge or in the dry sail area, tip your hat, thank them for their intensity and buy them a drink. This kind of talent is a wonderful example of ambassadors for sailing and the Milford Yacht Club!
