Blessing of the Fleet, June 18th

by / Wednesday, 14 June 2017 / Published in Club, Entertainment, Sailing

It’s that time of the year again . . . Summer is in the air, boats are in the water. Tradition says that participation in the Blessing of the Fleet ritual will assure cruisers of fair weather and safe passage, and racers of success on the race course. Others say this is mere superstition, but why take chances?

Come join us on Sunday, June 18th at 3:00 pm, the Milford Concert Band brings us the sounds of summer, starting at 2;00 pm

Our Blessing of the Fleet ritual is intended to safeguard our boaters, crew, guests and vessels from the danger of the seas through a blessing given by our local clergymen. Father Maroney (retired) of St Gabriels, Rabbi Farbman of Temple Emmanuel of Orange and Rev Dr. Bodt of Mary Taylor Memorial United Methodist Church will be officiating at the water’s edge as the fleet cruises by.
